NIA conducts multi-state raids over cyber terrorism investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids across five Indian states as part of an investigation into cyber terrorism attacks targeting 54 central government websites. The searches, carried out under ‘Operation Sindoor’, took place in Junnar (Maharashtra), Nadiad (Gujarat), Ramagundam (Telangana), Gopalganj (Bihar), and Delhi.

The investigation focuses on sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks aimed at critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII). According to the NIA, the attacks were intended to compromise national sovereignty, security, and unity, as well as to incite public fear during the period of Operation Sindoor.

Two individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case, which was originally registered by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad. During the recent raids, investigators seized digital devices, including three laptops, five mobile phones, and various pen drives, containing material related to hacking activities. The agency is currently working to identify suspects who provided technical support and skill upgradation to the primary accused.
