NIA conducts searches across Jammu and Kashmir in terror conspiracy probe

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 10 locations across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam, on Saturday. The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers and a local network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) allegedly providing logistical support to infiltrating terrorists.

The case was re-registered by the NIA following the arrest of an OGW linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on March 31, 2026, during which a hand grenade and live ammunition were recovered. Investigators are currently examining documentary, digital, and material evidence, as well as financial trails, communication channels, and the sources of arms and explosives to uncover the full extent of the network.

In separate operations in the Anantnag district, NIA teams searched locations in the Bijbehara and Dooru areas, accompanied by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police. These searches included the residence of individuals suspected of involvement in terror-related activities and potential links between drug trafficking and terrorism financing.
