NIA reveals Red Fort blast was a suicide attack by Umar-un-Nabi

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet regarding the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that occurred on November 10, 2025. According to the agency, the incident was a suicide bombing carried out by Umar-un-Nabi, also known as Pinda, who was present inside the vehicle at the time of the blast. The NIA claims Nabi used a specific command mechanism to activate the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) within the car.

The investigation identifies Nabi as the alleged mastermind behind the reactivation of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind module, described as a part of Al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent. The chargesheet alleges that Nabi and an associate, Rahul Bhat, worked to revive this module since early 2022, focusing on radicalization, conducting secret meetings, and arranging training and equipment for terrorist activities.

Evidence cited in the chargesheet includes the use of extremist literature, such as a ‘Lone Mujahid Pocket Book’ linked to Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). This manual reportedly provided technical instructions on explosives like TATP, remote-controlled detonations, surveillance, and methods to evade security agencies. The NIA also noted that Nabi had allegedly planned to travel to Afghanistan under the guise of ‘Hijrat’ after becoming involved with radical ideologies.
