Niall Horan honors Liam Payne with voice recording during tour opening

During the opening night of his ‘Dinner Party Live on Tour’ in Birmingham, Niall Horan paid tribute to his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne by playing a recording of Payne’s voice.

The audio was played following the performance of ‘End of an Era,’ a track Horan revised and rewrote as a tribute following Payne’s death in Argentina in October 2024. In the recording, Payne reflects on his career and the rise of One Direction, stating, ‘We thought something might happen but never anything like this. I always try to remind myself of where I’ve come from and where I’ve managed to get to in my life. It’s amazing, really.’

Horan has previously described the process of writing the tribute song as therapeutic. The song is part of his fourth solo album, ‘Dinner Party,’ which debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200.
