Niall Sheils Donegan ties Colonial course record at Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational

At the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational held at Colonial Country Club, University of North Carolina senior Niall Sheils Donegan shot a first-round 61. This performance set a new University of North Carolina record and tied the all-time course record at Colonial since its 2024 renovation. Sheils Donegan is only the eighth player to shoot a 61 at the course, joining seven previous PGA professionals.

After a second-round 75, Sheils Donegan is tied for the lead at 4-under 136 alongside Billy Davis of Auburn, Jon Ed Steed of Vanderbilt, and Adam Bresnu of Texas Tech. Auburn currently leads the team standings at 6-under par.

In other action, Stanford freshman Giovanni Binaghi led the Cardinal with a first-round 69, including an eagle on the final hole. Binaghi sits tied for 38th overall at 4-over par, as Stanford holds 15th place after two rounds.
