Nicaragua advances water and sanitation infrastructure projects

Nicaragua is advancing several infrastructure projects focused on water and sanitation. In Managua, the expansion of the sanitary sewer network is utilizing Pipe Jacking technology. This underground excavation method allows for the installation of reinforced concrete pipes at depths of up to 15 meters without the need for extensive open trenches, thereby minimizing disruption to traffic and local communities. The project aims to benefit more than 240,000 families across 48 neighborhoods in the capital's southern lakefront area.

In the Chinandega region, the Nicaraguan company ENACAL reports that the water system improvement project in the El Nancital 2 community is 93% complete. This initiative, conducted in coordination with the municipality of San Francisco del Norte, includes the rehabilitation of a well, the construction of a storage tank, and the installation of 4,900 meters of piping. The project is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year, providing potable water directly to approximately 600 residents.
