Nicaragua and Dominican Republic upgrade water supply systems
The Nicaraguan water agency ENACAL has begun a modernization project for the potable‑water system in Palacagüina, Madriz. The works, which include a perimeter fence, pump replacement at the Galería well, new office facilities and other upgrades, aim to improve service for about 2,300 families and are slated for completion in October 2026.
In the Dominican Republic, the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA) launched a major expansion of the San Francisco de Macorís aqueduct. With an estimated investment of RD$3.7 billion, the project will serve more than 285,200 residents. It features a new rapid‑filtration plant, additional pipelines, several large storage tanks, booster pump stations and upgrades to existing distribution networks, intended to increase water quality and reliability across the province.
