Nicaragua and Guatemala highlight export growth and industry awards

Nicaragua and Guatemala are highlighting significant developments in their respective export sectors through industry awards and trade forums.

In Nicaragua, the second edition of the National Exporter Award recognized key players in the meat, tobacco, and free trade zone sectors. Matadero Central S.A. (Macesa) was named the ‘Gran Exportador 2026’. Additionally, the ‘Nicaragua Exporta’ forum brought together representatives from over 30 countries to promote the nation's export offerings in coffee, meat, cacao, sugar, and seafood. Minister of Development, Industry, and Commerce Erwin Ramírez reported that the export sector reached $7.362 billion in 2026, a 10.4 percent increase over the previous year.

In Guatemala, Agexport has announced 12 finalists for the 38th edition of the National Export Award (Galardón Nacional a la Exportación 2026). These companies represent diverse sectors including agriculture, technology, and healthcare. While Guatemala's exports grew by 6.2 percent to $11.405 billion by August 2026, officials noted challenges regarding competitiveness and the performance of the BPO sector.
