Nicaragua exports reach $4.5 billion amid growth in gold and meat

Nicaraguan exports reached $4.535 billion through August, representing a 23.7 percent increase compared to the previous period. According to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (Mific), August alone saw $739.5 million in exports.

Gold remains the primary export commodity, followed by apparel and bovine meat. While several sectors showed favorable performance—including sugarcane, tobacco, palm oil, shrimp, lobster, and bananas—gold coffee experienced a decline in both price and volume due to climate variability linked to El Niño.

Export destinations are concentrated in six main markets: the United States, Central America, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and China. On the import side, Nicaragua saw increased spending on fuels, transport equipment, and construction materials.
