Nicaragua implements health and training initiatives
Nicaraguan authorities are conducting several regional initiatives focused on public health and administrative modernization. The Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Managua Mayor's Office have launched cleaning, fumigation, and larvicide application campaigns in cemeteries, including the Periférico Cemetery, to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya, and zika ahead of the Day of the Dead on November 2.
In terms of public health data, MINSA reported a decrease in dengue and chikungunya cases for the week ending October 24, 2026, though malaria, leptospirosis, influenza, and pneumonia cases saw increases.
Additionally, the National School of Migration and Foreign Affairs has begun a four-week office automation course for 20 officials. The training aims to improve digital skills and expedite administrative procedures at central offices, migratory service centers (SERTRAMI), and border posts.
