Nicaragua hosts regional tennis tournament and prepares international sports delegations

Nicaragua is hosting several international sporting events this October. The XLIV Central American Tennis Tournament (CONTECA 2026) is currently underway at the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores park. The tournament features 120 athletes from seven countries, including Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize. Nicaragua has sent its largest delegation with 41 players competing in U10, U12, and U14 categories.

Additionally, the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports (IND) has officially presented the national flag to several delegations preparing for Pan-American and Central American competitions. These include a taekwondo team traveling to Honduras for the Pan-American Series Championship, a women's indoor volleyball team competing in the III Central American Women's Final Four, and beach volleyball athletes participating in continental championships in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
