Nicaragua joins climate finance seminar in Shanghai

Nicaragua is participating in an international seminar on climate change financial mechanisms and carbon finance held in Shanghai, China. The event, which runs from August 18 to August 31, 2026, focuses on strengthening technical capacities regarding climate financing, carbon markets, energy transition, and sustainable development.

Representing Nicaragua is Shelley Flores, head of the Climate Change Unit at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARENA). The seminar facilitates the exchange of experiences in green economy and renewable energy through South-South cooperation, utilizing China's expertise to support national efforts in addressing environmental and climate challenges.
