Nicaragua marks multiple sporting achievements and international preparations

Nicaragua is seeing significant activity across several sporting disciplines. In softball, the Nicaraguan men's national team secured a bronze medal at the inaugural Central American Championship after a 17-0 shutout victory against Costa Rica. Panama took the gold, while Honduras earned silver.

In preparation for upcoming international competitions, the Nicaraguan national U16 football team and the youth field hockey teams were officially presented with the national flag at the Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes (IND). The hockey teams will compete in the first Central American Hockey Championship hosted in Managua, while the football team travels to El Salvador for the UNCAF tournament.

Domestic sports also continue to expand, with the sixth edition of the Nicaraguan National Men's Volleyball Championship beginning in Managua. The tournament features a record 36 teams and over 900 athletes competing across various age categories. Additionally, the National Baseball Umpire School graduated its first class, with 41 officials receiving Level 2 and Level 3 certifications to professionalize officiating in the country.
