Nicaragua reports economic growth and maintains fuel prices

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) released its Monetary and Exchange Policy Report for July 2026, noting sustained economic expansion, low unemployment, and stable inflation during the first half of the year. The BCN has maintained a zero percent annual exchange rate slide for the Córdoba against the U.S. dollar and reported that fiscal management has generated surpluses, allowing for the accumulation of financial reserves.

Despite international geopolitical risks and energy price volatility caused by tensions in the Middle East, Nicaragua's economy has benefited from favorable terms of trade and strong demand from major trading partners.

In a related move to support domestic economic stability, the Nicaraguan government announced that local prices for gasoline, diesel, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will remain unchanged for the week of August 23 to 29, 2026. This decision was made despite fluctuations in international oil prices to mitigate the impact on household economies and production sectors.
