Nicaraguan Army seizes 150 cocaine packages in Chinandega

The Nicaraguan Army seized 150 rectangular packages of suspected cocaine during an operation in the El Viejo municipality of Chinandega. The seizure occurred on the night of October 28 in the community of Palo Grande.

Military officials reported that the operation began after the Naval Force and the Special Operations Command detected a suspicious artisanal vessel off the coast of Los Zorros beach. During a patrol near the Palo Grande cemetery, troops encountered three individuals who fled into the brush after ignoring orders to stop. The suspects reportedly opened fire on military personnel before fleeing north, abandoning six sacks containing the narcotics.

Through intelligence work, authorities identified Damaris Beltrán Aguilera as the alleged leader of the support group responsible for the drug transport. She has been detained, and the drugs, the vessel, and the suspect have been handed over to the relevant authorities.
