Nicaraguan referees receive Alexis Argüello Sporting Excellence Order

The Managua Mayor's Office has awarded the Alexis Argüello Order of Sporting Excellence to Tatiana Auxiliadora Guzmán Alguera and Henry Antonio Pupiro Esquivel. The duo made history as the first Nicaraguan referees to participate in a FIFA World Cup.

Both officials served as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) assistants during the tournament. Guzmán participated in the final match between Argentina and Spain, while Pupiro served as a VAR assistant during the semifinal between France and Spain.

The award ceremony was attended by Managua Mayor Reyna Rueda and other municipal authorities. The Alexis Argüello Order is the highest recognition granted by the Managua Mayor's Office and the Nicaraguan government to athletes, coaches, and sports personalities.
