Nicaragua's National Blood Bank Receives New Mobile Hemocenter
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, through the Cruz Blanca organization, handed over a refurbished mobile hemocenter and additional equipment to Nicaragua's Banco Nacional de Sangre. The delivery, valued at 3.2 million córdobas, includes a unit with five beds, five donor chairs, classification and evaluation areas, storage space for collected units, as well as 70 portable donation beds and 20 partitions.
Director General Denis Centeno said the new mobile unit will expand the capacity of blood‑collection teams that travel daily to communities, schools, universities, workplaces and other public sites, improving comfort and safety for voluntary donors. The upgrade supports Nicaragua's claim of regional leadership in voluntary blood donation, with 100 % of collected units coming from altruistic donors.
