Nice authorities close Les Canailles beach over safety violations

The private beach Les Canailles, located on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, has been subject to an administrative closure as of Friday, September 25, 2026. The decision was announced by Éric Ciotti, the mayor of Nice and president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, following an inspection on the evening of September 24.

Authorities identified serious shortcomings during the inspection, specifically regarding fire safety, electrical installations, hygiene, and health safety. The closure will remain in effect until the establishment is brought into full compliance with regulations.

In response to the closure, Les Canailles stated via Instagram that the shutdown is necessary to carry out mandatory technical work and autumn cleaning. No specific date for reopening has been provided.
