Nice businesses to receive €2.5 million compensation after UNOC 3

The French State announced an imminent payment of €2.5 million to 63 businesses in Nice that suffered revenue losses during the security perimeters imposed for the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) held from 8‑13 June 2025. Compensation was calculated by comparing each firm’s turnover in the conference week of 2025 with the same period in 2024 and was validated by expert‑accountants.

The largest share, €1.7 million, will go to 21 port‑related and nautical enterprises that faced navigation bans and access restrictions around Port Lympia. A further €558 000 is earmarked for 23 restaurants located within the Port Lympia security zone, while €90 000 will be distributed among nine hospitality and service establishments near the Palais Sarde. Additional smaller amounts cover other affected firms near the Palais des Expositions and the Mediterranean University Centre. The first transfers are scheduled to begin in the coming days following the April 2026 confirmation of the approved dossiers.
