Nice Côte d’Azur introduces free public transport for seniors

The Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur has implemented free public transportation for all residents aged 65 and older, regardless of their income level. To utilize this service, users must hold a nominative subscription and validate it during every trip.

Following the announcement by Mayor and Metropolitan President Éric Ciotti, the measure has seen significant immediate interest. Early reports indicate that the initiative has already led to nearly 10,000 new subscriptions, with over 20,000 senior titles issued since the rollout began. The policy aims to support the purchasing power of retirees and promote autonomy by providing a cost-free alternative to driving for daily activities such as medical appointments and shopping.
