Nice school attack: Mother accused of attempted murder with firearm
A 36-year-old woman has been taken into custody following a violent attack at the Clément-Roassal nursery school in Nice, France. According to Prosecutor Damien Martinelli, the suspect allegedly entered the school requesting an urgent meeting with the director, claiming her child had been a victim of sexual assault.
The suspect reportedly threatened the director with a firearm, pulled her hair, and struck her multiple times. The prosecutor stated the woman pointed the weapon at the director and pulled the trigger without a shot being fired, later claiming she only had two bullets. She also allegedly used a knife against the director’s cheek. A second teacher was also physically assaulted during the incident.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed the suspect is in an irregular situation in France, is subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), and was under house arrest. Reports indicate she was previously flagged for Islamist radicalization and had prior convictions for violence involving weapons. An investigation into attempted murder has been opened.
