Nice video game store worker praised after confronting looters

Pierre, a sales assistant at a Micromania video game store in Nice, France, has gained widespread online attention after footage showed him attempting to prevent masked rioters from looting the shop on October 17, 2026.

Video of the incident shows Pierre standing in the doorway to block entry before being struck by projectiles and kicked from behind by members of the group. Despite his efforts to defend the premises, the store was ultimately looted, resulting in damaged shelving and scattered merchandise.

Following the incident, Pierre received significant public support. While online fundraising campaigns have emerged in his name, he stated that he has not been contacted regarding them and noted that he felt his actions were ‘stupid’ in hindsight, though he acted instinctively to protect the store.
