Nichi Vendola presents new book in Bari addressing authoritarianism

Nichi Vendola, president of Sinistra Italiana, presented his new book, “Il vizio della ferocia” (The Vice of Ferocity), published by Laterza, at the Galleria cinema in Bari. The work examines contemporary authoritarianism, the crisis of the political left, and the rise of aggressive political language.

During the event, Vendola commented on the recent Court of Cassation ruling regarding the former Ilva plant in Taranto. He emphasized that the rights to health and work, both constitutional in nature, must be balanced without allowing corporate interests to take precedence over human life and safety.

The book explores historical and modern parallels to fascism, including sovereignty movements, Trumpism, and the militarization of society. Discussions at the event also touched upon the necessity of primary elections and the development of political programs for upcoming electoral challenges.
