Nichi Vendola to present new book in Lecce

Poet and essayist Nichi Vendola will present his new book, “Il vizio della ferocia,” published by Laterza, at the Biblioteca Bernardini in Lecce on Friday, November 6, at 19:00. The event will feature a discussion with the author, Stefano Cristante, and Simona Cleopazzo.

The book offers a political and historical analysis of the decline of democracy and the resurgence of fascist elements in contemporary politics. Vendola examines the continuity between the twentieth century and the present, addressing themes such as toxic rhetoric, dehumanization, and the rise of movements like sovereignism and trumpism.

His work traces historical roots from the origins of Italian fascism and the Holocaust to modern issues, including migration policies, the militarization of society, and global power dynamics.
