Nicholas Brandram, former 'Putney Pusher' suspect, found dead
Nicholas Brandram, a 44-year-old former HSBC private banker and British Army captain, was found dead at his Chiswick home on September 15. His death was discovered by his brother-in-law after he failed to attend a planned family meal. Paramedics were unable to revive him.
Brandram had been a primary suspect in the 2017 ‘Putney Pusher’ case, involving a jogger who pushed a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge. While the Metropolitan Police had investigated him for attempted grievous bodily harm, an inquest heard that there was no forensic evidence or credible proof linking him to the incident. His family stated that the police investigation, and the subsequent public identification, caused him significant shame, anxiety, and mental pressure.
The inquest into his death has been adjourned pending an investigation by the Independent Office of Police Conduct. The Metropolitan Police described his passing as “unexpected but not suspicious.”
