Nick Blakey seeks trade from Sydney Swans amid club tension

Sydney Swans defender Nick Blakey has reportedly indicated to associates that he wishes to be traded from the club following a breakdown in his relationship with the organization. The tension follows an incident at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne last month, where Blakey was one of five players suspended by the club for breaching behavioral standards.

The players involved—Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Isaac Heeney, Riley Bice, and James Jordon—were sanctioned for partying throughout the night and bringing women back to the hotel after a game against Essendon. While the club-imposed bans are separate from legal matters, Victoria Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into sexual assault allegations made by waitresses at the hotel.

Reports suggest Blakey is frustrated with how the club handled the situation, while the Swans are dissatisfied with his involvement. Blakey currently has five years remaining on a contract valued at over $1 million per season. Although he previously explored a move to the Gold Coast to be near his partner, Ella Connolly, he remains under suspension for the remainder of the season.
