Nick Bosa expected to miss multiple weeks with calf injury
San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher Nick Bosa is expected to miss several weeks after suffering a calf injury during a warmup before Thursday's practice. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Bosa will miss Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, though the team is still deciding whether to place him on injured reserve. An IR designation would mandate a minimum four-game absence.
Bosa's injury exacerbates a severe shortage on the 49ers' defensive line. The team is currently managing numerous injuries at the position, including Sam Okuayinonu (foot), Alfred Collins (knee), C. J. West (knee), James Thompson Jr. (ankle), and Romello Height (hand). The roster is currently managing 15 players on injured reserve.
In response to the depth issues, the 49ers have held workouts for several veteran defensive linemen, including four-time Pro Bowler Matt Judon. Despite the defensive setbacks, the 49ers remain favorites for their upcoming matchup due to strong offensive play led by quarterback Brock Purdy.
