Nick Hindmarsh completes 177 km charity walk for Alzheimer’s research
Nick Hindmarsh, a Rotarian from River Dart, completed a 177 km charity walk to raise over £1,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK. The trek was inspired by the impact of Dartmouth Caring’s Memory Café and the personal experiences of local clients.
The multi-day journey began in Dartmouth, passing through Hope Cove, Aveton Gifford, Ivybridge, and Dartmoor. Hindmarsh traveled through Ashburton and Buckfastleigh to reach Buckfast Abbey before returning to Dartmouth.
Alzheimer’s Research UK noted that dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, emphasizing the importance of research funding to develop future life-changing treatments.
