Nick Knowles becomes shareholder in Cornish Pirates rugby club
Television presenter Nick Knowles has joined the ownership group of the Cornish Pirates, the professional rugby side based in Cornwall. The investment follows the club’s recent American stake taken by Pittsburgh‑based Stonewood Capital Management. Knowles, known for programmes such as DIY SOS and National Lottery: Who Dares Wins, said the partnership will help showcase the club’s regeneration plans and boost Cornwall’s economy. Club chief executive Sally Pettipher highlighted that the new shareholder and his media profile could broaden the club’s audience as it pursues a ten‑year development plan aimed at reaching Premiership level. The Pirates are also addressing infrastructure challenges, with the main grandstand at The Mennaye still under repair after damage from Storm Goretti.
