Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios is eligible to return to professional competition as of September 4, 2026, following the conclusion of a one-month suspension. The ban was issued by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after Kyrgios tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, during an ATP tournament in Mallorca in June.

Kyrgios explained to investigators that the substance was consumed in a social context during a night out prior to his match in Mallorca. An independent expert from a WADA-accredited laboratory confirmed that this explanation was consistent with the levels detected in his sample, leading the ITIA to classify the use as occurring out-of-competition.

While the standard suspension for such an infraction is three months, the penalty was reduced to one month because Kyrgios committed to and completed an ITIA-approved treatment program. As part of the sanctions, Kyrgios will forfeit all prize money and ranking points earned during the Mallorca event.
