RM Sotheby's Monterey Car Week Auction Highlights McLaren F1 GTR and Zampella Collection

RM Sotheby's is conducting a high‑profile car auction during the Monterey Car Week in California. One of the featured lots is the McLaren F1 GTR chassis 10R, built in 1996 and previously owned by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason. The vehicle, restored by Lanzante after two accidents in 2009 and 2017, is slated for sale on 15 August 2026 with an estimated price of more than US$35 million (about €31 million or R$179 million). Only 28 McLaren F1 GTRs were ever produced, making this red, yellow‑accented example highly sought after.

In the same auction, 17 supercars from the late video‑game developer Vince Zampella’s garage are being offered. Zampella, who died in a Ferrari 296 GTS crash in December 2025 in the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles, assembled a collection that includes a limited‑edition Ferrari Daytona SP3 and other exclusive models. The total estimated value of the Zampella lot is around €38 million.
