Nick Morabito records first MLB hit and three-run double
New York Mets prospect Nick Morabito recorded his first Major League Baseball hit and first career three-run RBI during a 10-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
After starting his career 0-for-12, the 23-year-old outfielder entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch-runner. In the seventh inning, Morabito hit a bases-clearing double against reliever Manuel Rodríguez to extend the Mets' lead to 9-4. He added another hit in the ninth inning and made a significant defensive play with a diving catch to end the game.
Morabito, a former second-round draft pick, was recalled to the roster on September 1st as part of the Mets' September call-ups.
