Nick Pope's Newcastle future uncertain amid Leeds and Ipswich interest

Nick Pope, the 34‑year‑old England goalkeeper, is likely to leave Newcastle United when his contract expires next summer. The club has not received any official approaches, and Pope has been asked simply to report for pre‑season training.

Leeds United and newly promoted Ipswich Town have been linked with Pope, but reliable sources say Leeds have not made a formal bid. Newcastle are preparing to sign two new keepers, including French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, and are also considering other options such as a senior goalkeeper and the return of loan player Odysseas Vlachodimos. Pope finished the 2025‑26 season as Newcastle’s first‑choice keeper after competition from Aaron Ramsdale, who is returning to Southampton.

The club’s goalkeeping department is being reshaped ahead of the next campaign, with Pope’s future now dependent on the incoming recruitment decisions.
