Nick Reiner disciplined after hostile outburst in Los Angeles jail shower

Nick Reiner, the 32‑year‑old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, is awaiting trial on two first‑degree murder charges for the deaths of his parents. While incarcerated at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility, he became “extremely hostile” during a verbal confrontation in a jail shower on April 27, 2026. According to a source cited by People, Reiner finished showering, changed into fresh inmate clothing and then grew impatient when deputies were delayed by an overdose emergency elsewhere in the unit. He yelled, used profanity, and ignored orders, prompting a backup call and the arrival of three additional guards. The incident did not turn physical, but Reiner was issued a disciplinary write‑up and lost telephone, visitation and commissary privileges for five days. He remains housed in a specialized medical‑observation unit, under 24‑hour camera surveillance and limited personal contact, after having spent seven months in near‑total isolation since his arrest in December 2025. If convicted, he faces the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.
