Nick Reiner indicted for murder of parents Rob and Michele Reiner
A Los Angeles County grand jury has indicted Nick Reiner on two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his parents, director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. The indictment, which was unsealed recently, includes a special circumstance allegation that Reiner was ‘lying in wait’ before attacking them in their Brentwood home on December 14.
Prosecutors also included allegations regarding the commission of multiple murders and the use of a deadly weapon, specifically a knife. The ‘lying in wait’ allegation suggests premeditation and, if proven, could make Reiner eligible for the death penalty, though the District Attorney’s Office has not yet decided whether to seek that sentence.
Nick Reiner, 32, entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment. He is currently being held without bail. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for September 15, 2026, at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The investigation is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division.
