Nick Reiner indicted in murder of parents Rob and Michele Reiner

Nick Reiner has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder following the December 2025 deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, in their Los Angeles home. A Los Angeles grand jury returned the indictment, which includes a special circumstance allegation that the murders were committed by lying in wait using a knife. Nick Reiner, 32, has pleaded not guilty and is currently held without bail. His siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, reportedly testified before the grand jury regarding the case.

Parallel to the criminal proceedings, a legal dispute has emerged regarding an irrevocable trust established by the Reiners for Nick’s benefit. The trust, valued at approximately $1.63 million, was scheduled to release half of its funds to Nick in September 2023 when he turned 30. Nick’s attorney has petitioned the probate court to compel the trustees to release these funds, arguing that the trust terms do not allow for distributions to be conditioned on subjective assessments by trustees. The legal battle over the funds continues in probate court as the murder trial approaches.
