Nick Saban identifies LSU as easiest program to recruit

Former college football coach Nick Saban identified LSU as the easiest program to recruit for during his career. Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Saban noted that his decision to join LSU as head coach ahead of the 2000 season was driven by research conducted while he was an assistant for the Cleveland Browns in the early 1990s.

While working with Bill Belichick, Saban was tasked with identifying which state produced the most NFL talent per capita. The findings revealed that Louisiana produced approximately 15 to 18 high-quality football players annually. Saban stated that the state's talent density, combined with a strong national reputation, made recruiting significantly easier than at other programs where he coached, including Alabama and Michigan State.

Saban highlighted his success at LSU, including the 2001 recruiting class that helped lead the program to a BCS national championship in 2003. He also commented on current LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, noting that Kiffin has done a good job building the roster during the current offseason.
