Nick Saban locker room footage reveals 2017 title game QB change

Newly released footage from an ESPN docuseries provides a look inside the Alabama locker room during the 2017 CFP National Championship Game. The video shows former head coach Nick Saban informing quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa of his decision to switch starters at halftime.

Saban, who described the move as ‘one of the most difficult decisions I ever had to make as a coach,’ praised Jalen Hurts for his character and how he handled the adversity of being benched. The decision ultimately led to a comeback victory for Alabama against Georgia, highlighted by a touchdown pass from Tagovailoa to DeVonta Smith in overtime.
