Nick Suzuki to miss 2-4 weeks with upper-body injury

Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki is expected to miss two to four weeks due to an upper-body injury. The injury occurred during a Tuesday night overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks when Suzuki was struck on the hand by a shot from defenseman Michael Kesselring.

The injury ends Suzuki’s NHL Ironman streak of 546 consecutive regular-season games, which ranked 20th in league history and was the second-longest active streak in the NHL. Suzuki has been a central figure for Montreal, leading the team in scoring this season with 12 points in nine games.

In response to the injury, the Canadiens have recalled forward Owen Beck from the Laval Rocket. The team faces a significant challenge as they begin a four-game road trip, including matchups against Chicago, Winnipeg, St. Louis, and Dallas. Teammates Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky noted the difficulty of replacing Suzuki’s impact on the roster.
