Nicki Minaj faces multiple legal disputes

Rapper Nicki Minaj is involved in two separate legal battles in the United States. In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, former tour manager Brandon Garrett has requested that Minaj turn over private text messages from early 2024. Garrett alleges that Minaj assaulted and battered him during a show at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, claiming she struck him and verbally threatened him. Minaj’s legal team has resisted the request, stating she has no messages regarding the alleged incident and characterizing other demands as overly broad.

Separately, Minaj’s attorneys are seeking permission from a New York court to withdraw from a $275,000 production lawsuit filed by 24/7 Productions. The firm cited “irreconcilable differences” and a breakdown in communication regarding litigation strategy. The lawsuit involves unpaid production and hotel costs related to Minaj’s 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball shows and other promotional events. While the plaintiff seeks reimbursement, Minaj’s company, Pink Friday Productions, has disputed the debt and argued that Minaj should not be held personally liable.
