Niclas Füllkrug returns to Werder Bremen on loan

Niclas Füllkrug has completed a return to Werder Bremen on a one-year loan from West Ham United. The 33-year-old striker successfully passed his medical examination at the Weserstadion on Tuesday.

To facilitate the move, Füllkrug agreed to a significant salary reduction, as his current contract in London is not financially sustainable for Bremen. The deal includes no option to buy. Füllkrug, a former Bundesliga top scorer and German international, described the move as a personal priority, stating, “I have never hidden that Werder is a very special club for me.”

Werder Bremen officials, including football director Peter Niemeyer and coach Daniel Thioune, expressed enthusiasm for the signing. They characterized Füllkrug as an immediate solution to their offensive struggles and a vital leadership figure who requires no adaptation period due to his history with the club.
