Nico Hülkenberg doubts imminent return of German Grand Prix

Formula 1 driver Nico Hülkenberg has expressed skepticism regarding the imminent return of the German Grand Prix to the racing calendar. Although F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has indicated that the sport is open to the possibility of hosting races in Germany again, Hülkenberg noted that a return feels “quite far from happening” at this time.

The German Grand Prix has not been a regular fixture since 2019, with the only exception being the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix held at the Nürburgring during the pandemic.

As the sport looks to expand, several nations including Rwanda, South Africa, and Thailand have expressed interest in hosting races. Additionally, Argentina has emerged as a potential candidate, driven by the increased popularity of driver Franco Colapinto. Hülkenberg highlighted that having a local driver can create a significant connection between the sport and a nation's fanbase.
