Nico Hülkenberg hints at possible Audi Formula 1 contract extension

German driver Nico Hülkenberg, who is under contract with the Audi Formula 1 team until the end of 2027, said after ending his points drought with a ninth‑place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix that the team’s performance is stronger than the championship standings suggest. He noted a “huge discrepancy” between what the standings show and the actual on‑track progress, adding that Audi has missed several scoring opportunities in the first eleven races.

When asked whether he could see himself still racing for Audi in 2030, Hülkenberg replied, “Never say never, but it’s far too early to think about that. I’m in the here and now, taking it year by year. As long as I’m having fun, the stopwatch is accurate, and the team wants me, I’ll drive for Audi.” Both the driver and the team have dismissed earlier rumours that his seat was at risk, and Hülkenberg said he can imagine continuing with the project for “quite some time.”
