Nico Hulkenberg avoids high-speed collision at Dutch GP
During a chaotic opening lap at the Dutch Grand Prix, Audi drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto narrowly avoided a high-speed collision. The incident occurred after Bortoleto lost control of his car on a wet patch of the track, resulting in a 360-degree spin that created a smokescreen of tire smoke.
Hulkenberg, approaching from behind, utilized quick reflexes to steer around the spinning car, avoiding a heavy impact. Following the incident, Audi Racing Director Allan McNish praised the instinctive judgment shown by both drivers. Former Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg also commended Hulkenberg, noting that the avoidance was a result of skill rather than mere luck.
Despite the near-miss, both drivers continued the race. Hulkenberg secured an eighth-place finish, earning four points for Audi, while Bortoleto recovered to finish in 13th place.
