Nico Lupino wins two titles at Internazionali di Sicilia

Nico Lupino, a 37-year-old corporal major in the Italian Army, secured two victories during the second day of the 62nd Internazionali di Sicilia held at the La Favorita obstacle course in Palermo.

Lupino won the day's highest-ranking competition, a 1.45m obstacle race valid for world rankings, riding the eight-year-old German gelding El Chacco PS. He also won the CSI2* time trial with 1.35m jumps aboard the Belgian mare Kalemie VD Withoeve Z. Lupino noted the significance of the wins, mentioning that one was achieved with a horse he has raised himself.

Other notable results included wins by Achille Gasperini in the 1.15m CSI1* two-phase race and Ginevra Sorrentino in the subsequent 1.25m time trial. Maxime Harmegneis also secured a victory in the 1.30m two-star special event.
