Nico Paz prefers another season at Como before returning to Real Madrid
Nico Paz, a 21‑year‑old Argentine midfielder on loan at Serie A side Como from Real Madrid, has informed the Spanish club that he would like to stay for an additional season. Real Madrid hold a €9 million buy‑back option (potentially rising to €10 million after a year) that must be exercised by June 30.
Paz argues that another year of regular first‑team football in Italy, where he has been a key player under coach Cesc Fàbregas, will better aid his development than limited minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu, where competition for places is fierce. This season he recorded 13 goals and 8 assists in 40 matches, improving on 6 goals and 9 assists the previous campaign.
The ultimate decision is expected to rest with Como manager José Mourinho, who will balance the player’s wish for a starring role with Real Madrid’s long‑term plans.
