Nico Paz to stay at Como for 2026/27 season as Real Madrid postpones return

Argentine midfielder Nico Paz will remain with Serie A club Como 1907 for the 2026/27 season. Both clubs have reached an agreement that lets the 21‑year‑old continue receiving regular playing time under manager Cesc Fàbregas, while Real Madrid retains a buy‑back option.

Real Madrid’s option to repurchase Paz is set to expire on 30 June 2027, with a stipulated fee of €10‑11 million. The Spanish side has decided not to activate the clause for the coming summer, effectively allowing Paz to stay another year. Reports note that José Mourinho told the player he would not be a guaranteed starter at Madrid, influencing the decision. The agreement also preserves Madrid’s 50 % share of any future sale and a further option for a 2027 return.

Paz’s continued presence blocks other offensive signings for Como, such as Antonio Vergara, and keeps interest from clubs like Tottenham, Inter and Arsenal at bay. The move is viewed as beneficial for Como’s upcoming Champions League campaign and for Paz’s development ahead of Argentina’s national team commitments.
