Shirin David makes strategic moves on The Voice of Germany

During the Blind Auditions of ‘The Voice of Germany’, coach Shirin David made headlines for her strategic moves involving the show’s ‘block’ rule.

In one instance, 19-year-old Aylin Basar received a four-buzzer performance, but her preferred coach, Nico Santos, was unavailable to compete because David had used a block against him. After learning of Basar’s admiration for Santos, David requested the production lift the block, stating, ‘I do not want to prevent anyone from living their dream.’

In a separate performance, 16-year-old Benjamin Bieck impressed the panel with a rendition of ‘Barfuß am Klavier’. David utilized a block against Nico Santos during this audition but subsequently used her ‘joker’ to secure the young singer for her own team.
