Nico Vázquez clarifies the status of the musical reality show Popstars

Host Nico Vázquez has addressed rumors regarding the potential cancellation of the musical reality show ‘Popstars’ following its abrupt removal from the Disney Channel programming schedule. While the show disappeared from the cable channel on September 5 without an official explanation, Vázquez clarified via Instagram that production is ongoing.

The program continues to air on Telefe and remains available on Disney+ with exclusive content. Vázquez noted that recent scheduling shifts on Telefe were due to coverage of a Copa Libertadores match between Platense and Fluminense rather than a cancellation. He stated, “We are still recording and getting closer to finding the band,” and expressed pride in the participants' growth.

Speculation regarding the removal from Disney Channel included theories about low viewership numbers and broadcasting rights, though no official confirmation has been provided by Disney. The current edition of the show, which debuted on August 24, is a revival of the franchise that originally formed groups such as Bandana and Mambrú.
