Nico Williams hailed for early talent and dedicates Spain's 2026 World Cup triumph to Neymar

Diego San Román, the first coach of a six‑year‑old Nico Williams at San Jorge in Pamplona, recalled that the youngster impressed him after only a few touches, noting his exceptional speed, power, ambidextrous shooting and humility. Years later, Williams played a decisive role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final held at the New York‑New Jersey Stadium, where Spain defeated Argentina 1‑0 in extra time. He delivered the cross from the left that allowed Ferran Torres to score the winning goal. After the match, Williams dedicated the victory to his idol, Brazilian star Neymar, saying he hoped Neymar was watching and that the dedication was “the most beautiful thing” for him. The win made Spain the first nation to hold both the men’s and women’s World Cup titles simultaneously.
